Ta-Da!! We got ourselves a fancy new website!

Read all about it below, then check it out for yourself at http://www.sjica.org. And don’t forget to play the ICA Website Scavenger Hunt Big Prize Game!

Message from the Director:

“It’s hard for me to imagine that I’ve been the Director of the ICA for more than 10 years! It truly has flown by.  But, what’s even more remarkable is that the ICA turns 30 this year.  For all that time, we have been presenting progressive, challenging, and inspiring art in downtown San Jose.  For many years, we were the little engine that could.  Now we’re the engine that drives the downtown contemporary art scene.

In celebration of our 30th anniversary and after hundreds of hours of conceptualizing, planning, designing, re-designing, and testing, we are finally able to unveil our new website.  We owe an incredible debt of gratitude to the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts for funding this effort, and to our design and development team from Altitude Associates and IOMATIX with oversight from our most loyal and talented graphic designer Joshua Swanbeck.  I would also like to give a special shout-out to our Marketing Director, Maureen Cappon-Javey, who has managed this project for the last nine months and still appears to be relatively sane at launch time!

So, what’s the same?
The content.  You can still find the same great news and up-to-date info on gallery happenings, educational programs, special events and tours.

What’s new? Where do I begin?
Let’s start with the design and layout. Wow!  What an improvement.  While we always had in-depth and thorough content, it was presented in a homespun, amateur format that didn’t reflect the ICA’s cool and hip identity.  Do a drive-thru and you will see how much easier, more intuitive and enjoyable it is to browse through the site.

Borrowed from our former print newsletter inFORM, this quarterly column will include programming highlights, new initiatives, observations on the art community and/or general commentary from yours truly.

And now, instead of having to call the ICA and possibly wait for a call back, you will be able to register for print center workshops online, from our website.  The Print Center section constitutes a website within a website where you can see all the classes, the instructors, the schedules, and the fees.  And, then just click to sign up!

You can also view all of our Artist-in-Residence prints on the Prints for Sale page – most excellent!

In addition, you will find instant access to our Facebook, Flickr, Twitter, Blog and YouTube shenanigans from easy-to-find icons on the Homepage.

Finally, we have the ability to offer online membership enrollment, membership renewal and donations.  In fact, why don’t you check out those pages first?  Or, if you like to have fun and win stuff, play our Website Scavenger Hunt Game and enter to win a fabulous prize!

Throughout this year, stay tuned for information on our 30th anniversary activities and events. You’ll find it all right here on our super cool new website!”
